Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have nearly identical lumps near the base of my neck, one about an inch left of center, the other an inch right of center. The one on the right is bigger. They are near the base of the skull. They are (were? two days ago?) sore if you push on them. BUT, they don t seem to be very sore at all now. I notice it seems more itchy than anything in that region. Maybe the itchy feeling is urelated. What is it? I think it just popped up and I noticed it from the itching. I was recently diagnose with frontal fibrosing alopecia and assume this is unrelated. Is it lymph nodes or ?
As per my clinical experience, the itchy lumps on the base of the neck indicate sequence of bacterial or viral infection. The reason is enlargement of lymph nodes in the drainage area. My guidelines: - Plenty of liquids - Multi-vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants - Balanced nutritious diet - Antihistamine like Diphenhydramine or Cetirizine - Antibiotics like Cephalexin or others - Avoid smoking if involved
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
