What Causes Itchy Painful Lump On The Vaginal Lip?

I have developed a bump on the left lip of my vagina. When it first appeared a couple of days ago it was very itchy and painful to the touch. I ve been using Monistat cream on it. The itching stopped but it seems as though the cream has brought it to a head. It is white on top. I ve had this happen before, maybe once every other year. I am 61 years old and a recently diagnosed diabetic. What is this and what can I do to stop it from re-accuring?

I have gone through your query. Bump on lip of vagina can be due to bartholinitis or boil. Poor hygiene is the main reason for getting this. Main way of spread is from anal area. During wiping or cleaning do in only one direction towards the anal side. Using intimate wash daily will be helpful to normalize vaginal bacterial flora and PH which can there by prevent getting such infections. You can do hot fomentation and apply betadine ointment on the bump. If there is no improvement then consult your doctor as you may need antibiotic therapy.
