What Causes Itchy Rash On Abdomen After Walking On Treadmill?

Hi. I had just finished a 35 min walk/ jog on my treadmill this morning when I noticed a petichial rash, in lines on my abdomen as well as by upper thighs, and back. I ve been jogging for weeks with no problem. I have no pain, initially the rash was not itchy but now I feel it is becoming itchy or I could just be thinking about it to much.... No other concerning symptoms. What do you think??

Hi,

The petechial rash is a condition where small, flat, reddish-purple spots appear on the skin, and they are caused by bleeding under the skin. Petechiae are often associated with minor injuries, including excessive pressure or straining during exercise. This type of rash can also be caused by certain medical conditions such as autoimmune disorders, infections, or allergic reactions.

In your case, the rash may be caused by the pressure or rubbing of your clothing or treadmill against your skin during exercise. It is also possible that the rash is caused by an allergic reaction to something you came into contact with during your workout, such as fabric softener, laundry detergent, or body lotion.

If the rash is mild and not accompanied by other concerning symptoms, such as fever, chills, or difficulty breathing, you can try treating it at home by applying cool compresses or using over-the-counter anti-itch creams or ointments. Don't scratch the rash because it would lead to infection.

If the rash is severe or persists for more than a few days, it is important to seek medical attention. Your doctor may recommend topical or oral medications to reduce inflammation and itching, or they may suggest further testing to determine the underlying cause of the rash.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
