What Causes Itchy Rashes On Body With Small White Head?

Hi. I am taking itraconazole for possible hystoplasmosis. I have a rash that is signular on both sides of my body. Some on my arms, legs, back of hands. They itch and sometimes have a small white head. They are not in patches, yet sometimes there are several in a group. Could this be a allergic reaction?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Definitely, itraconazole may cause skin rashes very commonly. However, these are usually mild and do not cause any serious symptoms. Most of these symptoms are usually transient and may go by themselves or with stoppage of treatment with Itraconazole. However, once a while, the allergic symptoms may become severe and wide spread. In such case, you are advised to stop the medicine immediately and consult your doctor.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
