Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi was cleaning out our back woods and a day later I started braking out in a rash on my arms chest and legs . They started off small and got bigger and raised and then clear fluid came out and very itchy. I think it s poison ivy but my wife thinks it maybe shingles.
Your symptoms are typically due to allergic reaction and it can be poison ivy but not Shingles as shingles is a viral infection.. It can also be scabies due to mite infestation which can be due to exposure in the outdoors.. So my suggestion is to temporarily take anti histamines like Allegra [Fexofendaine] or Benadryl and along with it apply steroid ointment like Triamcinolone or clobetasol over the rashes.. Also do ice packs over the rashes. If the symptoms continue to recur and does not get better then you should consult an Emergency room so that they can do a clinical examination as many a times clinical presentation is sufficient to rule out the cause. A blood test can also be done for confirmation.. If it is scabies then Oral Ivermectin and topical application of Prethermin lotion will be advised..
Hope this helps..
Regards.
