What Causes Itchy Rashes On The Left Leg?

Hello, I work 12 hour night shift and I work 3 days for 36 hours. Last night as I was working at the computer both of my ankle s started to itch and I just reach down and scratch. I was thinking maybe mosquitoes under the desk, but I didn t see any. I looked at my ankles later and saw both legs were red and itchy and covered the area under my sock and a small area above my sock of the left leg. I am 69 years old and have had a history of veins problems and have been treated twice on the right leg. Can this be related from my treatments from several years ago for my leg vein problems? Thanks you, Jim

Hi,

Well, as both the ankles started itching together, then it looks most probably to be due to some allergic reaction. And is most probably be due to any bug bite and not the mosquitoes. Less probably be related to vein related problem.

So my suggestion is to apply Caladryl lotion or Benadryl cream over it. Do cool compresses. Take anti allergic medicine like Fexofenadine or Benadryl for relieving itching. If there is no improvement consult an Emergency and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
