Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a laproscopic cholecystectomy 13 months ago. Six months ago an itching started which led to rash and increased intensity of itch. Now anterior thighs have hard under skin very itchy spots. I have been Tx by two dermatologists using oral steroids, topical steroids, Zyrtec and Benadryl to no avail. The rash, bumps and itch continue to reoccur. Could this n any way be related to bile salts?
Bile salt is produce from liver and stored in gallbladder until excrete with feces. After cholecystectomy bile directly enter to the stools without storing in the body. So unless you have some obstruction in bile ducts it is unlikely to cause elevated bile salt level in your body.
