What Causes Itchy Red Patches On Back?

My back has moderate to severe itching. It has developed 4 red patches that itch constantly. Scratching makes the itch worsen and hurt at the same time. I have tried anti itch creams which do not help at all. The itching started several months ago has gotten progressively worse. The best thing that has helped a little is peppermint oil.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

You seem to have an allergic rash due to excessive sweating/clothing material (synthetic). The I Ching &dampness a result in secondary fungal infection; which aggravated the symptoms.

Take frequent baths, dry the skin perfectly &use Candid dusting powder for preventing itching. Use thin cotton clothes. If no relief consults a skin specialist for oral medicinal treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
