What Causes Itchy Red Rash On The Chest Despite Having Sinus Infection?
I have been REALLY sick for a few days and now have an itchy fine red rash on my mech and chest area. I was told a sinus infection when I first went to dr. But the NP said she s had a lot come in complaining like me so she was just gonna give me what she s been subscribing them, AMOXCILLIN! AND COUGH MED? !! At the time I did ask if I didn t need shot she said no. 3 people from my church have been dx: with type A flu. Could this itchy rash be from being sick?
As per my clinical experience, the red rash on chest with body ache and sickness indicates underlying viral infection. As the antibiotic is already prescribed for prevention of secondary bacterial infection, I would quote additional guidelines as: - Hydration maintenance with plenty of liquids - Antihistamine as loratidine or diphehydramine for itching control - Local application of calamine lotion 3 times a day - Avoid sun exposure - Wear loose, clean, cotton clothes - Control of blood sugar
Regular follow up with your NP for further management guidelines.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
