What Causes Itchy Red Rashes On The Chest After Treating Dengue?
Dear Doctor, my mother, 65, had a dengue attack on 1st sept. She was hospitalised and given 10 units of platelets. now she has recovered and released from hospital. However since last 2 days we have noticed some red coloured rashes on her chest which are itchy. Plz advise

1. It is not uncommon for the dengue fever rash to appear twice [once in initial stage (6th day), and second much later in the course of disease which itself is very itchy and since rash followed mosquito bite [dengue] thus medical advice is necessary]
2. Although there is no specific treatment for rash, but one can apply calamine lotion to soothe the skin
3. One can think of other possibilities of rash on chest like: chikunguniya fever, along with relevant laboratory investigations
