What Causes Itchy Red Rashes On Wrist, Lower Arms And Legs?

I have itchy red skin rash mostly on my wrist, lower arms and lower legs. It will break out for no reason and I have to put some sort of cream/lotion on to stop the itch. Sometimes I use poison ivy lotion, it will lay down for a bit but comes back. I have Triamcinolone Acetondie cream USP 0.1% but it doesn't help a lot. Thank You for your help...Jo

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that itchy red skin rashes that occur suddenly on wrist,lower arms and lower legs seems to be due to Contact Dermatitis that can occur due to allergic reaction some unknown allergen..
As soon as you are exposed to the allergen there is occurrence of allergic reaction..
Common allergens are Poison ivy, certain detergents, skin cosmetics, leather, latex etc..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Prick test, patch test, RAST test and food challenge test can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
As of now you can take anti allergics like Allegra or benadryl..
You can apply steroid based creams over it..
Do cool compresses..
Apply calamine lotion as it will soothe the skin..
You can be given an immunotherapy to reduce the severity of allergic reaction.
