Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
About three weeks ago a small red spot appeared on my leg during a trip to yellow stone national park. When I first noticed it it was the size of a small bug bite, now it is bigger than a quarter. I ve been asking around about it and I ve heard everything from a spider bite to cancer spots so I was wondering if you could help me. Sometimes it itches and other times it hurts.
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy red spot on leg which seems to be due to hair follicle infection, and could be insect bite.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to
- Start with application of aloe vera gel. - Wear loose cotton clothes to avoid itching. - Apply azelaic acid containing cream twice a day. - Avoid exposure to sunlight. - Keep areas clean and dry.
Consult dermatologist once and get it examined if symptoms persists and strat with proper antibiotic course.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
