What Causes Itchy Running Nose And Phlegm In My Throat?
hi doctor, my nose literally feels like a glue stick, it s itchy, sometimes runny, and i have so much phlegm in my throat. i ve had it for years now and my local gp is reffering me to specialists and we have not yet found any answers. but it s a painful annoyance for me. and i end up having to clear my throat and can t. it s either in my throat or my nose. any advice?

Hi,
Noted your history of feeling like glue stick nose, phlegm in throat, local GP referring to a Specialist, have to clear throat but cannot. All your history indicates that there are changes in mucosa in nose and throat which can be atrophy. Chronic changes occur and if not properly diagnosed and treated then this can occur. Hence I would advise you to have the following:
- Consult an ENT Surgeon who on endoscopy can tell you the exact cause.
- Additional investigations like nasal swabs, possibility to find the general conditions that can cause such changes like Leprosy or so.
Till then use normal saline nasal washes alternate with soda bicarb rinses. Do not use any medicines that contain antihistamine as these cause more dryness. Take multivitamin with mineral and trace elements to increase integrity of mucosa.
