What Causes Itchy Scabs Around The Anus?
I have these big scabs near my anus, between my butt cheeks that hurt a lot and peel off sometimes. I have also noticed that the scabs have spread down to my legs and are very itchy. I recently had unprotected sex so I am scared that it is herpes. Any clue what it is?

Many of the other cases of anal itching are due to hygiene issues. Only a very few cases are caused by a specific disorder (see Table: Causes and Features of Anal Itching), such as pinworms or a fungal infection.
