What Causes Itchy Scabs On The Skin In An Elderly Person?
my father is 82 and has been experiencing itching to the point of breaking his skin and creating scabs. he has no rash although he believes there are little bumps. we had a prescription for a cortisone cream and he said it helped a little. i have gotten several lotions for him. he has his heat up very warm and he has type 2 diabetes. he doesn t seem to understand that putting lotion on is a continual treatment. I am wondering if there is something else i should look for as in how can i help him?

Most probably it will be eczema or condition like seborrhoea. You can apply antifungal steroid combination like clotrimazole-betamethasone for symptomatic relief.
If lesion persists better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.
