Hi,I am Raju.A.T (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. In high school, I had a really bad case of acne. I m 24 now and my face had been clear for a really long time, except for a few remaining scars and the occasional pimple during my time of the month. For the past few weeks, my skin has been itchy, tight and small red bumps have formed all over my forehead and temples. I switched my showerhead to a filtered one and that seems to help with the itching because my water is a bit softer. The red bumps still remain, though. They don t look like cystic acne that I m used to. They sort of look more like a rash. I m not sure if my skin is just really dehydrated, or if it s actual acne.
As per your query you have itchy red bumps . The bumps you mention occur due to many reasons like excessive sun exposure or allergy . The other reason of red bumps can be a skin infection.
Use facewash containing salicylic acid and apply kojic acid cream twice a day after washing face . Use sunscreen with SPF 15 while in exposure to sun to prevent skin from excessive sun damage.
-Exfoliate facial skin once a week to remove dead skin.
-Drink plenty of fluids and water to hydrate yourself.
- Give cold compresses for itchiness .
If condition persist even after month then consult dermatologist . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , antiviral , steroid drugs (oral/topical) or isoteritenoin.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
