What Causes Itchy Skin, Dark Colored Urine And Vomiting While On Benadryl?
I am writing on behalf of my sister. She had a stroke in 2005 and still has no movement on her right side. She sees a doctor regularly but right now she is concerned that her skin has been itching and also her urine is pretty dark in color. She had been taking benadryl twice a day for her allergies but has since stopped taking them because she thought they might be causing stress on her liver. She usually limits her water intake each day because she is usually in her wheelchair most of the day and is afraid that her body would start holding water. Also she was throwing up for a day and a half but is now feeling better.
Such symptoms are very characteristic for bile ducts obstruction. It can appear due to stones in the gallbladder or compression to the bile ducts (from pancreastumor). She should not wait with it. Abdominal ultrasound and blood work should be done as soon as possible. Most likely she requires a test called ERCP.
Hope this helps. Regards.
