What Causes Itchy Vulva, Swollen Labia Minora And White Coating Around Vagina?

Hi Doc, My vulva started itching a few days ago and I didn t pay much attention to it. It got real bad yesterday and today I decided to take a look. My labia minora is swollen as well and I noticed a white coating on the area below my urethra and above the vaginal opening. What s the cause of this and what are the treatments? .

Hello,

You are having itchy vulva, swollen labia minora, and white coating around the vagina and urethra. The symptoms that you are experiencing are indicative of yeast infection. Take care of your hygiene. You can take antifungal medications for 3-7 days, it will clear yeast infection. You can also apply antifungal creams, ointments, vaginal tablets and suppositories like Miconazole (Monistat 3) and Terconazole with the help of an applicator in the vagina.

Avoid any sexual contact or self pleasuring while you are being treated. You can take acetaminophen, one SOS when needed. In case of resistant infection, your treating doctor will prescribe an antifungal medication daily for two weeks, followed by once a week for six months.
