Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of itchy welts on arms which is mainly triggered by viral infections or medications. The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine which may be necessary for prolonged period. Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms , so above treatment should be taken after consultation of your dermatologist with proper examination and rule out conditions like psoriasis and eczema. avoid itching and pricking of rashes. You may take Vitamin C and apply calamine lotion on the rashes.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
