What Causes Jaw Tightness And Pain After Having A TDAP Vaccine?

Hello, I recently fell in the shower, resulting in a deep laceration from my left foot sliding over the drain in the shower. I am a nurse at a rural health facility, so I waited until the next morning for stitches and a TDAP injection. Approximately two days after receiving the TDAP injection, I experienced some jaw tightness and pain. I received the injection in my left deltoid, but only experienced some arm pain for the first couple of days. I am wondering if this is a normal side effect from the TDAP vaccine? Should I be concerned? I still experiencing some jaw tightness (right side) and pain, two days after first experiencing the symptoms.

Hello,

It is not related to TDAPP. As first-line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
