Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking 88mcg of synthroid for nine years after thyroid removal. Just recently I have been getting muscle and joint aches and some weakness in my legs. Is it possible my dosage is too high and is it normal to have to decrease your dose age when you become older.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Yes dear that can happen. Dosage may change i.e, either increase or decrease with time . But for that first we need to be sure that all your symptoms are due to thyroid only.I would suggest you consult an endocrinologist once before we proceed.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
