What Causes Joint Pain All Over The Body Along With Fatigue?

I am having a number of symptoms which seem to be occurring together. The most frustrating in joint pain and stiffness all over my body (right big toe, both ankles, both knees, both hips, lower back, upper back, base of neck, both shoulders, both elbows, both wrists, all finger joints). This has been going on about three months. Additionally, I am so fatigued that I have to take a nap daily, just to cope. Finally, within the last year, I have been put on atorvastatin (cholesterol), metformin (pre-diabetes), and lisinipryl (blood pressure). I have gained about 20 pounds since January and am obese, so I know some of this has to do with poor eating habits. My blood pressure medication was just changed because the bp was all over the place (as high as 215/110) and now it seems to be normalizing a bit, but is still not completely normal. Most recently, both my big toe nails are falling off (no injury - I realize this may just be fungus, and unrelated). My doctor doesn t seem to be looking at the big picture, but instead looking at the symptoms separately. Why is all this happening all of a sudden? I am 56 yrs old; 5 2, 204 lbs and was in perfect health up until about a year and a half ago. Any advice?

Oncologist 's  Response
Hi,

Other medical conditions. Having arthritis increases your risk of other health problems, such as heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease - all of which can be associated with fatigue.

These include infection, liver or kidney disease, thyroid disease and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Monish De, Oncologist
