Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband doesn t feel well. His symptoms are joint pain, nausea, can t seem to regulate body temp. Don t think he has a fever. Has not been feeling well for a few weeks, maybe a month. Some history for you. He had a liver transplant about 7 years ago. High blood pressure and diabetes. He has neuropothy in lower limbs. Also rhumatoid arthritis. However, his arthritis has never been to this degree of pain in the joints. He is at stage 3 liver cirrohsis. Hepatisis C caused his first liver and his new one to deteriorate. He had this last treatment and is now free of Hep C. He does have a doctors appointment this coming week, but thought maybe a jump on possibililities wouldn t hurt.
Joint pain is because of rheumatoid arthritis and this disease progresses over the years as its an autoimmune disease, doctors give medicines that mainly slow down the progression of the disease as well as to give symptomatic relief. I hope he is on regular follow up for the same and taking medicines regularly as per doctor’s advice.
I would suggest you talk to your rheumatologist about this as there might be a change in dose of a few medicines your doctor can advise if needed. About nausea, it can be a result of some medication he is on or as you said he has liver cirrhosis.
I would suggest you meet your doctor early if the pain is extreme and other symptoms like nausea or fever are making him uneasy so that appropriate management can be advised by your doctor soon. He might advise for some diagnostic tests along with the routine blood tests to see how well are the medicines getting tolerated.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
