Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Joint Pain Along With Pitting Edema In Legs?
HI twice my ANA came back high 1:1280 with in a 6 month of each other. All other test we negative. I suffer from joint pain all over, pitting edema in ankles and legs, swelling in fingers also numbness in fingertips and toes. Bad headaches and weird breathing patterns at night. Also very very painful spasms that spread from my esophagus to back with spreads outwards to shoulder blades and constant UTI s that go away for no more then 2 weeks at a time. My rheumatologist told me there is no sign of any rheumatoid diseases. Can you explain to me if there is a reason why my ANA is high or is that nothing to worry about?
Your symptoms are suggestive or autoimmune disorder. Fibromyalgia can not be excluded either. As there is pitting edema, I would also recommend performing a cardiac ultrasound ultrasound and NT pro BNP levels for possible myocarditis or cardiomyopathy, a chest X-ray study, kidney and liver function tests.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
