What Causes Joint Pain In Neck?

My son is in tremendous joint pain-sometimes it is in his neck and he cannot move. Has gone thru blood tests, etc and now they think it could be parve - what causes this?. I thought that was a kennel disease - he does, however, have several dogs- they say that cannnot cause his symptoms. Up until two months ago, he was fine. Had a hernia operation in August and has gone down hill ever since with not being able to work and so much pain.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Your son's problem can be related to cervical spine like cervical spondylosis. It can be due to wrong postures he is having. X ray of cervical spine will be helpful to rule out the condition. For such condition I would recommend muscle relaxants like tizanidine, NSAIDs like aceclofenac and neuro vitamins like b12. I also advise to go for physiotherapy and muscle strengthening exercises. Wearing a cervical collar will be helpful also. Also use an orthopedic pillow for neck while sleeping. Avoid sitting or working on wrong postures also. A consultation with an orthopedician is well appreciated.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
