What Causes Joint Pain In The Hips While Suffering From Diverticulitis?

Hi, my husband has diverticulitis, with episodes about 6 times per year. Recently he gets a rash on his cheeks and forehead that is quite noticeable. He has terrible joint pain in his hips, and fingers. The joint in his pinky finger actually is so large it turns white and hurts terribly. He has gotten two ear infections in the past two months and is exhausted all the time. He doesn t smoke, has a beer occasionally, but drinks about 6 cans of Pepsi per day. He is in his mid 40 s, 5 10 and about 200-210 lbs. Any of this related?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be due to arthritis and not related to diverticulosis.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Paracetamol or Aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult an orthopedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
