What Causes Joint Pain While On Hyclate, Ceftriaxone And Rifampin?
My daughter is 39 years old and has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease. She has been under a physician s care for 8 months and has had a port surgically installed to facilitate her latest round of medications. My question is: My daughter is experiencing excruciating pain in her joints and large bones. She is taking Hyclate 50 mg twice a day, she takes (through the port)Ceftriaxone Sodium-2 GM/20ML SWFI slow IV push over 5-10 minutes once daily, Rifampin 300 mg capsule once a day. Is the pain she is experiencing now due to some type of interaction between these medication?

What Causes Joint Pain While On Hyclate, Ceftriaxone And Rifampin?
Hello, Pain is due to arthritis and not due to drugs. As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. Nothing much to worry as the pain will settle in couple of weeks with supportive measures. If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
