What Causes Joints Pain, Muscle Spasms And Cramps After Taking Lisinopril?

I am currently taking 5 mil. of linsopril for a month now due to high blood pressure. I see that it can cause joint pain as well as cramping. I am now having muscle spasms. Is that normal? I woke up last night screaming in pain because my ankle felt like it was being ripped from my leg. I went to the emergency room today. After they ruled out blood clot s they gave me a prescription for Robaxin 500 mil. It says to take 2 every four hour s I think that is a lot. I am choosing to take 1 every four hours. I still feel some discomfort right now however it is bearable. Am I doing the right thing. Should I be taking a blood pressure pill that has less side affect s?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
If you are having such a severe side effect to lisinopril, you should consult your doctor and switch your medications.
There are many other alternate medications available for hypertension. Before suggesting any, I would need your demographic data, and blood pressure readings.
