Dr. Hanif warmly welcomes you!

Thanks for consulting at my virtual clinic HCM. I have carefully worked through your case, and can well realize your health worries. Being your physician, I want to assure, I will take care all of your medical concerns.

You have a noticeable history of UTIs as described by you due to Enterococcus faecalis and other organisms may also be there in previous episodes, it all suggests that you have some reasons associated with the cleanliness of the genitourinary system and the anal region. It may also be due to some immunosuppresion where the immune system gets low on working.

Vagina normally have healthy bacteria that are always residing there. But the issues start when unhealthy bacteria start overgrowth compared to the healthy bacteria. Vaginal douching causes this issue in most of the women with vaginal infection.

Sexually transmitted diseases (less chances in your case, but I am sorry to mention) are also a cause of such infections.

Menopause cause thinning and drying of the vagina and more prone to bacterial vaginosis. Chemical irritants e.g. present in soaps also aggravate the problem.

To avoid infections, start Wiping after defecation from vagina and wipe anal region at the end to avoid fecal contamination genitourinary area.

Avoid scented soaps, toilet papers, creams, bubble bath, feminine sprays and douches.

Wear cotton only panties. No whirlpool baths and hot tub bath until you get better.

Use vaginal moisturizer if you have dryness. No sexual intercourse until you get better.

If I was your treating physician I would have prescribed you to apply Metro-Gel Vaginal inside the vagina to get rid of the infection and of course a follow up after a week. There is sometimes a need to add an oral medication too after seeing how the patient is doing after one week.
