Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I ve had knee pain for about two months or so now and I went to the orthopedic and they said there was nothing wrong, they gave me a brace to where for three weeks and it still hurts and it is swollen again and I just found some random bruises around my knee cap
First of all I would like to mention few conditions that can cause knee swelling and pain: 1) Osteoarthritis 2) Knee injury
3) Reactive arthritis that follows any infection like a urinary tract or respiratory tract 4) Rheumatoid arthritis 5) Tear of ligaments in knee 6) Injury to the meniscus of knee joint 7) Bursitis of knee joint.
Most of the above conditions are clinically diagnosed or with the help of an X-ray or an MRI. Have you had any investigation done when you met the orthopedic? My suggestion is to meet the orthopedic doctor now and ask for an MRI of affected knee joint. For the time being you can use the following medicines: 1) Tab. Aceclofenac daily twice if your kidney function is normal 2) Tab Pantop 40 mg half an hour before food. But please do consult an orthopedist as early as possible.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
