Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a small knot under my skin on the top part of my left butt cheek. It s not red or noticeable until you touch it and feel the lump, but it is painful. Just came across it within the last couple days and haven t been to a doctor yet. What could it be? I m very worried
The possibility is it can be a furuncle which is a painful boil arising in the skin from hair follicle. You should apply Fucidin ointment over the bump and do hot fomentation. If the condition recurs then you should take a course of oral anti-staphylococcal antibiotics and get your blood glucose checked. Also, try to keep the area clean and dry. Try to reduce weight if you are overweight.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev, Anesthesiologist
