What Causes Knots In Fingers, Elbows, Feet And Temples With Burning Sensation In Hands?

My daughter has knots in her fingers, elbows, feet, temples and other places, too. Her hands feel like they are on fire and she can barely open and shut them. No grip at all. She had blood tests for RA, lupus and lyme disease which were all negative. Blood tests did show inflamation. We are at a loss for what can be going on with her. She has had this happen before but, it always went away. This time it isn t going away even after steriod pills. They didn t seem to help much at all.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's sad to know what your daughter had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, she may need to have her uric acid tested.

Also, ENA profile or extended nuclear antigens profile should be done. HLA B 27 serologies may be needed as well. All in all, she needs a detailed Rheumatologist review.

Possibilities of reactive arthritis, psoriatic arthritis or seronegative arthropathies should be kept in mind. Sometimes in psoriatic arthritis, skin signs may appear after joint involvement.

Also the possibility of consideration of immunosuppressive therapy does exist so should be discussed with a Rheumatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
