Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4yr old son has 3 knots in his hairline but has not sustained a head injury. They appear to be medium/small in size and do not appear to be mosquito bites. What could cause that? Is it a possible allergic reaction? He had a knot last week, but I initially thought he hit his head on something. It took a few days to disappear, but now it s back with 2 others on the other side of his head/hairline. They are not painful to the touch. I would appreciate any medical insight a doctor could provide. Thanks, Terri.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The rashes could be caused by allergy, bacterial or fungal skin infection or just local skin reaction to an environmental irritant.I will suggest you give the child an anti-histamine like premalan, wash his head or bath him with anti-septic solution like cyteal. If the rashes persist or increase in number, you may see a Dermatologist for examination as an antibiotic or antifungal treatment may be indicated. Hope this will help Regards
