What Causes Lack Of Heartbeat Early In A Pregnancy?

I am suppose to be 11 weeks pregnant and went to have my first ultrasound and could not find a heartbeat and the scan reads the baby is weighing in a 6 weeks. However I had went a purchase a pregnancy test from the store and it reads that I am still pregnant, what does it means?

Hi,
I understand your concern.
- Mostly heart sound are seen by 5 weeks of pregnancy, Some times it may be late in case of delayed conception. So it is advisable to repeat USG scan with vaginal probe after a week to confirm absence of heart beat.
-Lac of heart beats in early pregnancy indicates Blighted ovum/chemical pregnancy or missed abortion.This condition needs evacuation of pregnancy.
- In case of pregnancy loss the pregnancy hormone HCG recedes back in due time to normal.It takes 8=10 days time- If the test is done earlier it may turn out +ve / Or it may be false +ve due to contaminated urine.
