Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Large Bruise On Shin Along With Swelling In Ankles?
I have mild Von Wiliebrand s disease. 5 days ago, while I travelled a very long distant via 23 hours of flight time, I had a headache and the only medication available to me is aspirin. I took 650 mg of aspirin. A day later, I started to see random bruises on various part of my body that I am not very concern about. There is a huge bruise on my left sheen I can feel it days ago, it slowly grew larger and covered 2/3 of my sheen and travelled down to the foot. On the inside bottom of the foot it turns purplish black. The left ankle looks mildly swollen, that it looks like I had twisted my ankle. Do I need to worry about DVT? Or this is the bruising process that causing the swelling and bruise at the bottom of foot?
You should not take aspirin at least again. Ask air hostess they have meds you can use paracetamol it’s very commonly available in planes but don’t take aspirin or other NSAIDs or Ibuprofen etc. Only paracetamol can be used that too should be 350 mg in single use. After you landed take blood tests and visit to your treating physician or check levels of factors. Learn breathing exercises.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
