What Causes Large Discolouration On Skin Along With Pus Discharge And Cavity?

Im a 42 year old female diabetic.I am morbidly obese. I have a skin Iinfectiin that is out of control or what I fear may not be a skin infection. I have had large areas if my lower belly turn purplish blue and large mussy knots form. The other day one bursted and ozzed a stinky bloody pus. There is now a visible hole and a deep cavity there. The are around it (about 10inches all the around it) is blood red and peeling. It burns and itches and it is only spreadubg. I had noticed that the center of my belly had been geting really hard a few months ago but just thought it might be dry skin. Now Im wondering if they might be conected. I went to a dermatologist but he would not give me antibiotics and this is just getting worse and worse. Your thoughts??

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Diabetics are more prone to infections and that is more common in uncontrolled diabetes.
Oozing out of pus and blood from the lesions is indicative of infection.
Bursting out of lesion with oozing out of pus and development of deep cavity is definitely indicative of infection.
The cavity thus formed has to be debrided (dead skin has to be removed) followed by wound dressing and oral antibiotic.
Thus, I suggest you to consult your surgeon at the earliest.
The purplish discoloration of the lower belly has to be examined.
Purplish discoloration is seen in disorders of coagulation.
Thus, clinical examination and relevant investigations need to be done to find out the cause of purple colored lesion.our glucose control.

Thanks and take care
