What Causes Large Swelling In Temple Area Post Injury?

My wife was hit in the temple area by a baseball thrown by a boy tonight. She has a goose egg next to her temple and complains of a headache and soreness above her temple on the side of her head. She did not lose consciousness, does not feel dizzy and has not vomited. Should we be concerned about a serious head injury?

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The swelling over the temple area can be because of the impact leading to inflamatory swelling. The other possible cause can be a fractured zygomatic arch. Nothing to be panic, consult a good oral maxillofacial surgeon and get it evaluated. You need to get a radiograph like PNS view, submentovertex view to conform the diagnosis. Mean while you can take an analgesic like diclofenac with anti inflamatory drugs like serratopeptidase.
I hope I have answered your query, take care.
