What Causes Large Swelling On Neck And Headaches Post Traumatic Brain Injury?

I fell down stairs 5 yrs ago suffering TBI, coma, and hairline fracture of the c7. I ve never had any problems with my neck even while in the hospital! Within past year, I keep getting a huge ball right at the base of my neck hurting badly enough to give me headaches. It also seems to lead to pinch nerves further down my back which impedes my movement. I also hear crunching alot. This is now happening very frequent....3-5x s weekly. I am 48 years old. Do you think this is a side effect from my neck injury or is this just age related?
