What Causes Large White Sores In The Mouth While On Trimethoprim For MSRA?
I recently got MRSA (I have previously had it) and have a current prescription for sulfamethoxazole/Trimethoprim at 800/ 160 MG I have been taking one pill two times a day for six days now and that sore is almost gone, however since I have been taking this medicine I have gotten a large white sore in my mouth with several little ones and am wondering if this is a possible side-effect or if i need to be seen by a doctor. They are not getting smaller and I am getting more and more of them along with swollen lymphoid (more swollen then when I originally went in to be seen for this) Thank you for your time Brandy
As per your complain sores in mouth while taking antibiotics can be a side effect of medication that is antibiotics that you are taking presently.. Mouth ulcers is a common side effect of .. Swollen lymph nodes are probably due to infection however sores can also get infected leading to exaggeration of symptoms..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a clinical evaluation and investigation like Oral swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
As of now if sores are painful you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine over it.. Apply steroid ointment like Triamcinolone Acetamide.. Do warm saline gargle.. Gargle with antiseptic mouthwash solution.. Gargle. 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and Benadryl can also help..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
