What Causes Laryngitis With Ear, Throat And Body Ache?

Hi, I was out for an evening of drinks after work feeling fine, as soon as I got back I felt tired and had a throat ache. For 2 days I had extreme fatigue and had aches all over my body and back. Had a terrible throat ache. It seemed to get better after 2 days, so I went out again, then I started getting strange neck stiffness so that it was hard to move. I felt like I d wake up having to wear a neck brace, instead I woke up with no voice! Now it s 2 days with no voice, I have a dry cough, a scratchy throat, and a terrible ear ache on one ear which feels like the pressure u feel as ur taking off on a plane. How did this happen n what must I do?

Otolaryngologist / ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Probably you have some infection or say abscess in you throat or neck or sometimes it may be muscular spasm.

Ear ache could be a refered pain only, however needs to be examined. General advise:

1. Avoid any type of drinks and tobaco if any habits you have.

2. Avoid outside food or if at all consume only fresh and hot served food.

3. Clear your throat frequently with saline water.

4. strictly observe food ane oral hygiene.

Next Step:

1. Have physical examination by an ENT specialist

2. Imaging like x-ray, sonography of neck and if needed CT scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
