What Causes Leakage Of Blood From Venipuncture Site After Blood Donation?

When I donated blood, my finger wouldn t stop bleeding after they checked my hemoglobin. Then after donation, I took off Kerlex 4 hours later and the spot at my AC kept slowly oozing blood. I take 1000mg Vitamin C during winter season, could that have caused it?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello
welcome to HCM
i have read your question and i can understand your concerns.

if i were your treating physician i would have done your complete blood picture to look at your platelets.decreased platelets can cause prolong bleeding.
i would also look for different clotting factors such as factor 8(vonwillebrand disease)factor 9 and 10.defficiency of these can cause prolonged bleeding.other clotting factors may also need to be tested but above mentioned are more common.
i would suggest you to meet haematologist to perform clotting time, bleeding time, activated partial thomboplastin time and prothrombin time.

thanks
hope the answer is helpful
regards
