What Causes Left Atrial Enlargement?

hello doctor , my father had a by-pass heart surgery on dec 2014 which was done in India . so before the surgery, his heart size was 37 mm and after 1 yr when we did the routine checkup it was still 37mm but the Left Atrium has increased to 39mm. We consulted a doctor to know the reason for the increase of the Left Atrium by 2mm and he advised it was due to hypertension. But my father had always a normal BP. So, could you please tell me what might be the reason for the increase of the Left Atrium by 2mm?

HI, THANK YOU FOR POSTING, COULD HAVE TWO POSSIBLE REASONS FOR HEART GROWTH: COULD BE A NORMAL VARIATION BETWEEN THE MEASURE OF A TECHNICAL AND OTHER, SINCE THE DIFFERENCE FOR NOW IS MINIMAL (two millimeters) , OTHER REASON ( THIS IS IN CASE OF continuing gROWING ofDIFFERENCE ). Heart after myocardial damage, REMAINS WITH A PERCENTAGE OF DAMAGE , SO THE FORCE WILL NOT BE THE SAME BEFORE THE BYPASS ,THEN THE HEART IS FACING A BLOOD PRESSURE NORMAL BUT WITH A FORCE DIMINISHED WHAT MAKES atrium dilate becausi it wall is a thinner than the ventricle should CHECK HEART PERIODICALLY TO ENSURE THAT GROWTH DO NOT PROGRESS.
