What Causes Left Chest Pain Radiating To The Back And Arm?
I ve had pains on the left side of my chest with pains down my arm for 3 days after food poisoning. I was admitted to hospital with a possible blood clot as I just did a 17h flight but the ct scan was clear They say the pains are from the throwing up when I was sick but why is it only on the left side of my chest radiating to my back and down my arm? I didn t have stomach cramps. Should I go back to the Dr what is your advice
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
These are typical symptoms of ischemic heart disease and it requires evaluation. This may indicate specific heart ischemic issues such as angina pectoris or heart arrithmias.
This should be definitely evaluated by cardiologist and you need to do at least ECG, heart ultrasound and ergometry. Also, you should check your blood pressure, regulate body mass, and avoid smoking.
Other risk factors should also be listed but at this point serious issues must be ruled out and the need for invasive angiography should be discussed with doctor. Wish you good health.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
