What Causes Left-sided Abdominal Pain While Treating Hernia?
I have had two abdominal hernias on the right side. The past two days I am experiencing pain in the lower left of my abdomen. The pain level is minimal but when I walk, I am so aware of discomfort with each step. Should I be concerned? I have a doctor s appointment in two weeks.
Diverticulitis is one of the most common causes. In many cases, persistent pain specific to the lower left side of the abdomen is caused by diverticulitis. Diverticula are small pouches created from pressure on weak spots in the colon. When a pouch tears, swelling and infection can cause diverticulitis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Esmeralda Sera, Oncologist
