Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am taking Isosorbide mononitrate 30mg sa tab for 3 wks and still get headaches on the left side of my head at or around the ear. the headaches have got milder in the 3 weeks and have seemed to level off but still have them. Is this something I should worry about?
The Isosorbide mononitrate is known to produce ototoxicity in form of headache around ear and decrease hearing sensitivity. It is best recommended to immediately report the instance to office of your doctor, stop further doses of Isosorbide as per his or her instructions after getting replacement prescription for the same. Later on if the symptoms persists, you may require an ENT evaluation with or without audiometry report.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
