What Causes Left Sided Lower Abdominal Pain?

My wife has stabbing sharp abdominal pain on left side lower abdomen. Very uncomfortable and hurts to move. She is not nauseous or bleeding. She has history of diverticulitis but dosent remember eating anything that would set it off. No fever, took Advil which took edge off pain. Had her appendix removed at age 24.
