What Causes Left Sided Pain Under The Rib Cage?

I have had severe pain on the left side just under my rib cage for 6 days. The first night I vomited 2 times. After drinking magnesium sitrate the symptoms were slightly relieved but definitely not gone. Activated charchol seems to help a bit but the pain comes back. I hvae not been able to eat much at all as the pain gets worse every time

Hi,

As such there are many other possible causes for the pain like you have but your typical symptoms suggest acid peptic disease.

You should follow the lifestyle changes suggested below to control it
- Eat bland & easily digested food. (avoid spicy, oily or hot food, eat small & multiple servings, (like a cup of cold milk every 2 hours), no alcohol, no fasting, avoid mental stress.

Over the counter medicine like Gelusil pills & Tab. Ranitidine over the counter.

If no relief in 3 days see a gastroenterologist for investigations & expert advise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
