What Causes Left Sided Sharp Pain In The Groin And Lower Back?
Hi! I ve been having alot of pain on my left side down by my groin. It is also on the same side but on my back. It feels worse when I crouch down and then try to get back up. I can hardly stand up straight. It can feel like a rapid sharp pain. At first I thought it was a bladder infection. I havent had time to go to the clinic to verify that. Sometimes it may feel alittle burny and other times not.
From your symptoms, it looks like you have a renal stone. Other possibilities are it can be a urinary infection, appendicular infection, diverticular infection or it can be a lower back pain due to a bulged intervertebral disc. But the symptoms points more towards a renal stone.
You should get a urine routine examination, complete blood count, renal function test and ultrasound abdomen and pelvis done as first step. The size of the urinary stone has to be assessed and depending on the size of stone and other blood parameter results a urologist consultation needs to be taken.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Meera Rajeev, Anesthesiologist
