Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Left-sided Swollen Lymph Node On Neck?
I have a swollen lymph node in the left side of my neck, it s been there for about 7 months. I have been to the doctor twice, the first time they said just to watch it. About 5 months later I realized that the lymph node seemed bigger so I made a follow up with my doctor and they decided to have an ultra sound down and when they got the results they called to tell me it s just a swollen node, (we already knew this) and offered no other information on why. Should I press the issue with my doctor as I feel this could be something to worry about?
The need for further evaluation depends on few more factors- its size and consistency, presence of any symptoms (recurring fever, weight loss, anorexia) and reports of basic investigations like complete blood count, ESR and peripheral smear. If no such symptoms and all basic tests are normal, we need not worry much. In suspicious cases, a FNAC test will be helpful. Kindly discuss with your doctor, or get back to us with details.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
