My Brother has always had severe leg cramping. Recently he has been walking/running @ 6 miles 3 times a week. Last night his got VERY SEVERE leg cramps. Last night his leg started swelling and tonight it is somewhat red. The appears to be some lumpiness in the leg. What could this be & does he need to go to the ER?
Hello, Thanks for the concern. According to history you have legcramps while you walk or run this happens due to vitamin e and b12 deficiency and also due to dehydration. For this you should take plenty of liquids, you can take vitamin e initially 600 mg twice daily and than 600 mg once a day, also you should take vitamin b12 that is methycobalamine once daily for at least 30days.you should do complete blood count Having vitamin b12. If you have pain than you can take painkiller. So consult your treating physician and start treatment accordingly. Hope this might help you. Take care.
